For 25 years, I proudly served in the United States Air Force. Wearing the uniform gave me purpose and belonging. When I retired in 2017, that sense of identity began to fade. The transition to civilian life was harder than I ever expected. I found myself carrying invisible wounds and memories that wouldn’t let go.
In searching for peace, I realized I wasn’t alone. Many veterans face the same silent battle that begins after service ends. That’s why I created Little Blessings Veteran and Community Outreach—a place for veterans and families to heal, reconnect, and rediscover purpose through the power of horses, community, and compassion.
When we launched our 50-week Veteran Equine Therapy Program, I knew it could change lives. What I didn’t expect was how much it would change mine. Going through the program opened doors inside me I didn’t realize were still closed.
One of the most powerful phases is EMDR therapy, a process that helps retrain the brain and soften the impact of trauma. It didn’t erase my past—it transformed how it lives within me.
The horses became mirrors, reflecting my emotions honestly and without judgment. They helped me slow down, breathe, and find balance again. Through that, I reconnected with myself and found a renewed purpose—to make sure no veteran ever has to walk this healing path alone.
Today, Little Blessings is more than an organization; it’s a lifeline. We’re growing, building new stables, expanding programs, and serving more veterans and families than ever before.
If my story resonates with you, I invite you to get involved—visit the ranch, volunteer, or sponsor a veteran’s journey. Healing happens when we come together as a community.
