Open house involved in planting a Hope Garden

A big thank you to everyone who came out to help us plant the very first The Yellow Tulip Project Hope Garden in Northwest Ohio/Southeast Michigan on Saturday 8 Oct.

Together we planted 500 Yellow Tulips at Little Blessings Veteran and Community Outreach in the shape of a yellow ribbon. We recognized that 22 Veterans will take their life each day. This garden is to encourage everyone to help us stamp out the stigma of mental health. This garden is sponsored by the DAR chapter (Anne Wood Elderkin Chapter DAR, Willimantic, Connecticut). Please stay tuned for details to come about our gathering in May. Together we can create Hope.

A special thank you to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System for allowing their suicide prevention team to be on hand to offer their support. Springfield JR ROTC for presenting a Color Guard, SVA from UT for performing a flag folding presentation, Matthew Dobbs playing TAPS, Ken and Patti Kaires for providing a beautiful rendition of the Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory. Wreaths Across America Toledo Metro Area Chapter and Boy Scout Troop 2 of Sylvania for helping us to plant the Tulips properly and keeping this yellow ribbon shape we are looking forward to seeing in May (Mental Health Awareness Month).

A heartfelt thank you to Janice Eileen for thinking of LBVCO for this wonderful and incredible opportunity. Thank you for caring about our mission of assisting our Veterans and their families.
