This month, in addition to acknowledging and supporting every survivor of SA, we shine a much needed light on Military Sexual Trauma (MST), a deeply personal and too often hidden struggle that affects far too many of our nation’s heroes. MST refers to sexual assault or harassment experienced during military service, and it can impact anyone, regardless of gender, rank, or branch.
The statistics are sobering:
➤ 1 in 3 women
➤ 1 in 50 men
have reported experiencing MST—but these numbers only scratch the surface. Many incidents go unreported due to fear, stigma, or a lack of support.
Behind each of those numbers is a real person navigating the real pain, isolation, and emotional aftermath of trauma. This April, and every month, we honor their courage. We raise our voices for those who have been silenced. And we advocate for safe, trauma-informed resources to support healing.
To all survivors: We see you. We believe you. You are not alone.
Together, we can build a future where survivors are supported, believed, and empowered to heal—on their own terms and in their own time.
If you or someone you know has experienced MST, help is available. Reach out. Speak up. Healing begins with hope.
